Koldwater Training Software
Training Applications for the Electrical Controls Industry
PLCLogix™ 5000 simulates the RSLogix 5000® and the Rockwell™ Logix 5000® PAC. This simulator is ideal for learning more advanced ladder logic programming using tag-based addressing. PLCLogix 5000 allows the user to practice and develop their programming skills. By combining ladder logic programming with 3D simulation, users gain tremendous insight into the operation of the latest real-world automation systems.
Although the RSLogix 500® is older than the RSLogix 5000®, it is North America's most used controller platform, with the 5000 (PAC) being the most common in new equipment. So, getting some hands-on experience with the PLCLogix 500 Simulator is essential.
The PLCLogix 5000 simulator enables writing, editing, and debugging ladder logic programs based on RSLogix 5000® PAC software. Unlike PLCs, PACs and Logix 5000® use tags, which are a far more powerful method of programming PACs but also more complex. The PLCLogix 5000's 80 PLC instructions categories are Bit Instructions, Timer and Counter Instructions, Program Control, Compare, Math, Advanced Math, Move/Logical, Array Shift, and Sequencer Instructions.
In North America, new equipment will likely use the latest technology, Process Automation Controllers (PAC) and RSLogix 5000® software. PLCLogix 5000 provides a method of learning and understanding the operation of a sophisticated tag-based PLC system by using simulation to demonstrate the operation of ladder logic programs. The interactive 3D-Worlds replicate the operation of 10 typical PLC environments ranging from car washes to elevators to conveyor systems.
PLCLogix 5000 also has import/export capabilities that allow students and instructors to import program files from actual PLCs and PACs. Users can also import/export between older PLC simulators such as the LogixPro. This functionality allows a seamless transition from older PLC systems to the industry standard Logix 5000® PAC platform. Educators will find this feature particularly helpful since they can easily transfer their existing ladder logic programs into PLCLogix 5000 programs without spending hours creating new ones. Industry users will also benefit since they can design, test, and debug offline and import/export programs between the simulation software and real-world PACs.
